What similarities and differences do you see between functions and linear equations?
Q. What similarities and differences do you see between functions and linear equations. Are all linear equations functions? Is there an instance when a linear equation is not a function? Create an equation of a nonlinear function and provide two inputs .

A. a function is any line on a graph that cannot be passed through twice by one verticle line, only once exactly. a linear equation is any straight line on a graph except for a perfect verticle line. all linear equations are functions also, but a function doesnt have to be a linear equation. the function f(x)=x^2 is a function because any one verticle line can only pass through it once. it is not linear because it is curved. f(0)=0 and f(2)=4

What similarities are there between the Russian Revolution of 1917 and Animal Farm the book?
Q. Research the Russian Revolution of 1917 and its origins. What similarities do you see between it and the events in Animal Farm?? Are the major characters in each of the revolution alike? Why or why not?
Asked by Tiran - Wed Jun 9 19:36:52 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are MANY similarities. I won't list them all, as there are too many. But basically, Animal Farm was written ABOUT the Russian Revolution. They are guided by a philosophy, overthrow the leader, form an idealistic government, then get corrupted. There's so much more than this, but read the sparknote for animal farm. Under characters, they have all the symbolism.

Q. Would anybody know what similarities and differences were there in the Resistance movements in Greece and Yugoslavia? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by Sarah - Fri May 1 23:20:29 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Both were large, officially Communist but based in the countryside, unlike the Marxist concept of organizing the city workers. Tito and the Yugoslavs were able to field actual armies with heavy weapons, uniforms, the whole bit, later on in the war, as well as guerrilla actions. TI do not think that the Greeks were able to do so (but I could be wrong), After the war, both the Yugoslavs and the Greeks were in the territory where Stalin had promised the Allies he wouldn't allow any communist rebellions. Tito and the Yugoslavs were strong enough to be able to do it anyway and take over their country. The Greek Communists were smothered in a mini-civil war openly supported by the British, Americans, and French, and tacitly by the Soviets.… [cont.]

What are the differences and similarities between a 401K in the US and a regulated superannuation Fund in Aus?
Q. I see many questions on here regarding 401K's which i assume are available in the United States. They sound quite similar to Regulated Complying Superannuation Funds in Australia. I have worked in the Superannuation industry in Australia so I understand in detail how Australian super funds work and the rules relating to them. I am specifically looking for information on how a 401K works and, if anybody knows about both superannuation funds and 401K's, what the similarities/differences are. If you only know about 401K's then please put down what you know and I will be able to work out the differences and similarities. My understanding is that 401K's are retirement savings accounts which are preserved until age 62 except in certain… [cont.]

A. Since I spend time in both countries during each year, I can give your info, but from a layman's point of view. The 401 Ks are similar to super funds. The differences are that in the 401K 1) It is not compulsory for employers to contribute. It is also not compulsory for employees to contribute, although they have to realize that their retirement is their own responsibility. 2) Many employers only match the contribution that their employee puts aside, in many cases up to 6% to 10% of the employee's base income. 2) Insurance is only available at the employees expense and if the employee chooses to insure his/her income. 3) 401Ks are sort of like a form of savings. You contribute funds into your 401K account, sort of like dollar… [cont.]

What are the similarities and differences of the ideas of Voltaire,Montesquieu, and Rousseau?
Q. I have a hard time trying to find an idea of these three philosophers that are similar. Also, what do their similarities say about the Enlightenment? The only similar idea I can find is that they believed in religious toleration and disfavored traditional religion, but I think this only applies to Voltaire and Montesquieu.

What are the similarities of an ammeter and a voltmeter?
Q. well i know that an ammeter measures current and voltmeter measures volts... but what are there similarities?
Asked by pmho - Tue Apr 20 21:56:23 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Often, their only similarity is they are both similar in construction and operation. However, as both are really current operated devices, the same meter movement can be used in both roles. Usually a straight voltmeter will have a series resistance, which minimises the voltage applied to the meter, thus minimising the current the voltmeter "sees". The series resistor is known as a "multiplier". However a voltmeter becomes an ammeter if it is used in parallel with a "shunt" resistance, which carries the vast majority of the current. The current flowing in the shunt (which is in series with the circuit) can be represented by the voltage dropped across the shunt, which is read on the voltmeter. The current read on the meter is proportional… [cont.]

What are the similarities and differences between Sartre and nietzsche's philosophies?
Q. What are the similarities between sartre's existentialism and Nietszche's philosophy? Thanks (: Thanks for your answers But 'sleddog3' if you're not going to be helpful then don't answer the question.
Asked by :) - Mon Mar 1 09:06:47 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I describe Sartre's philosophy as the individual's freedom to act, coupled with full responsibility for those actions. Nietzsche claims human action is best explained by "Seeking empowerment" (his phrase is "will to power", I always have thought that that loses something in translation) Both focus on human actions as their first definition of a person. There is a difference between Sartre's responsibility and Nietzsche's power. Sartre was a flaming atheist. Nietzsche was more anti-christian. Sartre would never agree with Nietzsche's "God is dead", because the death of God presupposes the existence of God (how can God die without first existing?) . Nietzsche seemed to me to say that Christianity killed (or maybe just messed up )… [cont.]

What are the similarities between the subjunctive and command forms in the spanish language?
Q. I need to know all the similarities. All I know is that they are conjugated the same way.
Asked by Melanie - Sun Mar 1 16:46:47 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This doesn't apply to spanish only, the subjunctive form is used differently in romance languages from germanic languages such as german, english and scandinavians ones. The subjunctive triggers when there is a wish, a request, but most importantly something ipotetic, something you can't be assured of. Some verbs that trigger subjunctive mood in ipotetic clauses are : believe, hope, think, but it applies to many more. I would be able to give you examples in italian as i don't know spanish, i will list you some examples where you should translate the verb in subjunctive. What are the similarities and differences between bodily resurrection and immortality of the soul?

Asked by Emma P - Wed Mar 4 15:39:33 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. At death the spirit leaves the body and the person goes either to paradise, a place of rest, or spirit prison. Resurrection takes place when the spirit is reunited with the glorified physical body. We may look to Jesus as an example of how this works. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 1 Corinthians 15:40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory… [cont.]
