how do i prevent any gas escaping in a gas collection experiment?
Q. When adding a metal to an acid in a gas collecting experiment using a gas syringe how do i prevent any gas from escaping? i have thought about attaching the metal to a string and cutting the string already but was wondering if there was more effective methods?

A. Do the experiment with small amounts of material, inside a conical flask. Use a delivery tube through a bung to the gas syringe. Start the reaction with the acid in a small container in the conical flack (like a test tube). This would prevent the two from mixing until the bung is set and the conical flask is shaken. be careful if you are collecting hydrogen as it is explosive :0)

how do you stop crickets escaping? and how the hell do they get out?
Q. I swear they must be escape artists. The doors to my viv are shut and there's no holes for them to get out of...yet i find a few in the kitchen and a few in the bathroom! Anyone had a similar experience? how do they get out? and what's the best way of feeding them to your beardies without them escaping?? tips and advice and funny stories of escapees welcome. we could call it prison break 2 - the cricket's revenge.

A. Ralph "Bucky" Phillips escaped from the Alden County Correctional Facility (Medium security holding facility in Upstate New York) setting off a manhunt that lasted many months (Apr 2006 to Sep 2006). While a fugitive from justice Phillips shot at least two law enforcement officers, killing one. He also committed quite a few other crimes, including vehicle theft, breaking and entry, burglary and assault. To answer your question ... although the chances are very slim, it's still possible to break out of prison. And sometimes when the animal escapes it's cage ... the results are deadly!
