What are the differences between research paper and term paper?
Q. I have to write about the term paper. But I don't know the differences between research paper and term paper. Please explain the differences between them.
Asked by m-angel - Mon May 12 04:40:58 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A research paper is a very specific type of paper, for which research is required it will include a works cited page, usually with a given minimum number of reputable sources. A term paper is a big umbrella designation that basically indicates a paper of any sort written at the end of a term/semester, usually intended to take an extended period of time and to comprise a large portion of the term grade. So, some term papers are research papers, and some research papers are term papers. Some term papers, though, will not be research papers, because they're written from what you've already learned. Sometimes they may even be subjective, especially in an English class, or they may be based on primary sources such as an interview the… [cont.]

What are the differences beetween the different kinds of tournaments?
Q. There are so many different kinds of poker tournaments, it's hard for me to tell the differences. What are the differences between them? For example, what is a "freeroll"? I'm talking about a freeroll tournament, where there's no buy-in.

A. Many Poker rooms offer their own tournaments from low six figure amounts to multi-million dollar events. Some Poker rooms also offer Satellites. Even you can win a seat at the World Series of Poker. A Satellite is a small, inexpensive tournament where players can win their way to bigger and better tournaments. Single Table Tournaments will usually have 10 players who have paid an entrance fee and put in a specified amount of money into the prize pool. The top three players in the Tournament receive a percentage of the total prize pool. Multiple Table Tournaments allow any number of players to enter. Consequently, the prize pool can be very large. A. they differ in size and in tobacco use. Cigar smoking causes a variety of oral cancers, including cancers of the lip, tongue, and oral cavity, and also the associated cancers of the pharynx, esophagus, and larynx. Many of these types of cancers have extremely low cure rates. For example, only 11 percent to 14 percent of patients with esophageal cancers survive five years after diagnosis.

What are some similarities and differences between local and national news?
Q. I have a essay due on monday morning and I have to tell some similarites and differences between local and national news. I need help mainly with some similarities but some examples of the differences would be nice too. Ex: One difference is that local news affects small areas but national news affects the whole country or at least a few states. Thanks :)
Asked by Savy - Sat May 2 21:13:44 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A very simple difference is - a local news is from your local sources, your city and suburbs only; it might or might not affect the whole country. If it affects the whole country, it will tend to become national. While the national news can originate from any where, and might or might not affect your city.

What are the differences between the iPod touch 1st and 2nd generation?
Q. I am getting an iPod touch for Christmas, and I'm most likely getting the 1st generation. From what I can see, there aren't that many differences between the 1st generation and 2nd generation iPod touch...I know of the volume control, the genius feature, and the rounded instead of flat body. I don't care about the body shape that much, but are there any other drastic differences between the 1st and 2nd generations of the iPod touch? i'm talking about speed, calibration, all that stuff. Graphics are also important. Thank you!
Asked by Life In Digital - Sun Dec 7 14:48:40 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Cosmetic differences: 1st generation has a black bevel and a flat metal back. 2nd generation has a contoured metal back and wraps around and forms the front bevel. It's Wi-Fi port is also more low profile and stylish with rounded edges. Hardware and software differences: 2nd gen comes with the 2.x updates. It also has an external speaker for casual listening. The accelerometer is also more functional then the 1st. One major difference though is the inability to jailbreak the 2nd gen meaning no 3rd party apps can be installed. There is hardly any graphical enhancements, calibration is the same, and it runs smoother on some apps such as calendar and maps and all of that. The Wi-Fi operates better in my oppinion, I had the 1st gen and… [cont.]

What are the differences between a banjolele and an ukulele?
Q. I've been interested in the ukulele recently but I love the look of the banjolele. What are the differences exactly? ( i don't want a banjo btw.) - Which one is easier to play? - I've heard that the ukulele is easy to learn, will it be any different to begin with a banjolele instead? - Is there a difference in sound? - How much practice would I need to become good at it?
Asked by zomgozzzzzzz - Thu Oct 2 12:41:00 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A banjolele (also called a banjo-uke) is a fretted ukelele neck on a small banjo-like body. AFAIK, they're tuned and played exactly the same as a regular guitar-shaped ukelele, but the banjo-like body gives the banjo-uke a louder, brighter, more percussive sound than a conventional guitar-shaped uke. I don't play uke, so I can't tell you exactly how much practice you'd need to get good at it. As for how easy it is to learn uke, I imagine its like guitar or any other stringed instrument -- probably fairly easy to learn a few chords and strum some basic song accompaniments, but requiring quite a bit of practice to get really, really good.

What are the specific differences in sound from a sousaphone and a contra tuba for marching band?
Q. i play contra for my high school and in marching band competitions, other schools have sousaphones. but i never really heard what a sousaphone sounds like. i know they're the same thing except sousaphone is more appropriate for marching but any sound differences? can anyone tell me the difference?
Asked by Raymond C - Sun Nov 9 23:27:48 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sousaphone is a bit simpler to start using, honestly -- put it on, get the bits right, and go. But, that simplicity can be offset by drill demands that weren't in existence when the sousaphone was invented. Contra is even simpler, hardware-wise. However, it puts more responsibility on the performer to use correct posture and technique -- because while a mediocre-marching sousaphone section still doesn't look too bad, a mediocre-marching contra section looks pretty awful. Sousaphones pointing at slightly different angles really don't look too different from each other; contras pointing at slightly different angles make it look like the section doesn't know WTF they're doing. The sousaphone touches your hip. That causes visible bell… [cont.]

What are the major differences between empirical and molecular formulas?
Q. I have to answer my chemsitry essay and I am stuck on this question...can anyone help me? What are the major differences between empirical and molecular formulas? I have to make sure to include the differences in how they are calculated? Thanks for the help!
Asked by Doesn't matter - Tue Aug 11 14:14:11 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Empirical formula: is the simplest formula that represents the whole number ratio between the elements in a compound. Examples: CH, CH4, CH2O, K2Cr2O7, K3Fe(CN)6 Molecular Formula: shows the actual number of each type of atom in a molecule. Examples: C6H6, CH4, C6H12O6, K2Cr2O7, K3Fe(CN)6. Molecular formula = (Empirical formula) x n n = integer The molecular formula is whole number multiple of empirical formula. If n = 1, both the formulas will be the same. To calculate the molecular formula from empirical formula and molar mass follow the steps 1-3 below: 1. Calculate empirical formula mass 2. Calculate the value of n by dividing the molar mass by the empirical formula mass 3. Multiply the empirical formula by n

What are the main differences between nihilism and existentialism?
Q. I really can't see any more differences than that nihilism is the rejection of social norms and meanings of life and existentialism means that we create our own meaning and perception of life and how we should live it. Are there any more distinct differences between the two?
Asked by Langdon - Fri May 8 03:43:48 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This is a difficult question to answer because there are various types of nihilism and existentialism; i.e. libertarian existentialism, religious existentialism, etc; existentialist nihilism, epistemological nihilism, etc; But to keep it simple, I would say that existentialism is the thought that existence precedes essence: man is born and has a tabula rasa, or a clean slate. His actions of free will are what form his essence. Man is doomed to be free, but existentialism is not a pessimistic philosophy. On the contrary, because man is solely responsible for his actions, he has the responsibility act in a fashion that he would expect other men to act. It is through these actions that morals are acquired. When thinking existentialism,… [cont.]

A. There should not be any difference as journalists should always use proper English. Unfortunately most Journalism degrees do not include much English grammar and editors and copywriters have apparently stopped caring about correct grammar.

What are the main differences between the republican and democratic parties?
Q. In my govt class we are debating the differences between our governments political parties views. I researched the main difference but am still apprehensive to begin debate without knowing some basic principles of each. Any information will help, thanks
Asked by artsyfartsy - Mon May 11 20:43:47 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Until quite recently the differences were quite small. Now it seems that the Republican party has skewed well to the right of center. They support the rights of big corporations over the rights of individuals, and always lower taxes for the rich. But aside from that, the big difference is that the Democrats are in charge and running the government, while the Republicans are out of power, have no interest in participating in bipartisan governing, and are actively working to marginalize themselves. )

How can differences in students abilities be dealt with in the classroom?
Q. I would love to hear from different teachers how they deal with these differences as well as the things they do to cater to the needs of their students. Please be honest in your responses. Thanks alot!!!
Asked by mystery_girl - Wed Feb 20 21:33:46 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is important for students to feel included. To them, the most important thing in the world is fitting in. Some teachers take the approach of treating students differently, but I know from experience that treating all students differently makes them feel like they are dumb and require special treatment. Basically, to keep a student's reputation intact, never treat a student specially in front of the class.
