The Republic of Cuba (pronounced /ˈkjuːbə/ ( listen); Spanish: República de Cuba, pronounced [reˈpuβlika ðe ˈkuβa] ( listen)) is an island country in the Caribbean. The nation of Cuba consists of the main island of Cuba, the Isla de la Juventud, and several archipelagos.

Havana is the largest city in Cuba and the country's capital. Santiago de Cuba is the second largest city.

Cuba is home to over 11 million people and is the most populous island nation in the Caribbean. Its people, culture, and customs draw from diverse sources, such as the aboriginal Taíno and Ciboney peoples, the period of Spanish colonialism, the introduction of African slaves and its proximity to the United States.

Obama to allow travel, money transfers to Cuba Will this effect the economy in a positive or negative way?
Q. I know that billions, if not trillions of dollars have been sent to Mexico and South America from illegal immigrants. And probably some of that money was sent to Cuba via another country. But isn't this going to allow illegal Cuban aliens to send money directly to their relatives in Cuba? Therefor not spending the money here in the US. I don't see how this will help the economy. So will it be a positive or negative effect on our economy?

A. Think you have hit the nail on the head. Doesn't seem like it will help our economy but will help theirs. What on earth is he thinking. Empty suit comes to mind. Wonder which of his advisers came up with this or did he do it all by himself? Fl. is filled with illegal cubans living off taxpayers.

How much for a backpackers holiday in Cuba?
Q. I have got this great idea bout going on holiday to Cuba for 10-14 days it would be a dream come true. Please can anyone tell me how affordable it is from a budget perspective? I would be looking to stay in the cheap places, etc. I am a Brit so if someone can suggest a cheap flight as well it would be hugely appreaciated. How much per day as a budget? Are they fair to tourists or do they massively over charge? I wanna go early/mid-July sort of time.

A. Cuba isn't too safe to travel by yourself. I would suggest staying at the resorts as they are incredibly cheap (especially in british pounds). To give you an example, I can get a 7 day stay at a resort (including airfare and all inclusive food and drink) for $500 Canadian.

What were the negative effects of negotiating with Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis?
Q. What were also the negative effects of creating a blockade of Cuba?

A. Actually, the United States did not negotiate with Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The negotiations were exclusively between the United States and the Soviet Union. The United States was able to get amazingly good aerial photographs. By simple comparison with aerial photographs of missile installations in the Soviet Union, American intelligence specialists were able to establish that the construction project being built in Cuba were missile installations, being built by Soviet technicians. The United States also knew that the Cubans had not developed missiles of their own. This set up a showdown between the United States and the Soviet Union. (Actually, the Americans carried their assumptions of Soviet control farther than was… [cont.]
