Should there be an absolute, unqualified right to reproduce?
Q. Throughout human history, up until the present, humans have almost universally taken for granted an absolute right to have children, regardless of either their capacity to care for and support children or the consequences of exercising this right, i.e. the fate of the resulting children. Should there be an unqualified, absolute right to procreate, untethered to the consequences for the resulting children? Is it ethical to knowingly and predictably bring children into the world when either one cannot really fulfill the responsibility of parenthood or if the child will predictably suffer, due to hunger, poverty, war, disease, etc.? If, for example, genetic testing reveals a pregnancy is likely to result in the child having a serious… [cont.]

A. I agree, we should have limits. But in this religious country, no one will touch that one. It will take extreme overpopulation and starvation issues before the pressure will be enough to limit peoples rights to have children. In the meantime the meak will be overproducing and the rest of us will be footing the bill. In another 100 years we will destroy nature and open lands and push thousands of wildlife to extinction while the ugly overpopulated human race takes over and destroys the earth. I'm glad I am living now and not then. I am sure it will be very sad..
